I believe jewelry is art. It’s not just a fashion accessory. It's a very personal expression of who you are. In creating handmade jewelry you are essentially making a small sculpture that in turn becomes wearable art.
For thousands of years people have adorned themselves with jewelry. Archeological treasures of ancient civilizations, particularly those of Egypt and Mesopotamia, have been a primary inspiration for my work. The vibrant colors and landscapes of Brazil, India, and China where I have traveled extensively, as well as my beloved American Southwest have captured my imagination.
I design and create unique earrings, necklaces, and bracelets in my downtown Santa Fe studio. I love classic, uncomplicated designs composed of fine metals and precious gemstones. As a graduate gemologist every gemstone is precious! And, what could be more classic than a hammered cuff, a pendant or a bold necklace?
I use only “Fair Trade” materials, recycled gold and silver, and environmentally sound production methods.
My work has been exhibited and sold in museum shops such as the Oriental Institute in Chicago, at the Santa Fe Opera Shop, and in various galleries in Santa Fe and throughout the Midwest.
I am a member of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Alumni Association, the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA), and a former Board Member of the New Mexico Jeweler’s Association. I have also studied at the Jewelry Arts Institute (JAI) in New York City which specializes in the revival of ancient jewelry design techniques.
It brings me joy as an artist creating something of beauty. It should bring you joy wearing my jewelry. Looking forward to seeing you in my studio! If you would also like to know more about the “Lure and Lore of gems”, you will have come to the right place.
